Increasing carbon taxes isn't the silver bullet for climate change. While pricing carbon is necessary, it should be part of a broader strategy that includes investment in technologies to decarbonise the economy and adapt to climate change. Simply raising taxes on carbon without a plan for innovation and adaptation could disproportionately affect lower-income households and businesses without effectively reducing emissions.
