I strongly disagree with requiring referendums to ratify laws approved by Congress, even if enough signatures are collected. This would undermine the efficiency and decision-making capability of our elected representatives. It could lead to legislative gridlock and slow down the essential reforms needed to drive Spain forward. Our democratic system delegates these decisions to those who have been chosen through general elections, respecting the principle that not every issue should be subject to direct democratic processes, which can often be swayed by momentary public opinions rather than long-term national interests.
