Closing existing nuclear plants would be a mistake. Nuclear energy is a critical component of our strategy to reduce carbon emissions and combat climate change. We must ensure the safety of these plants while investing in modernizing and maintaining them, rather than shutting them down prematurely.

I believe nuclear energy is essential for our energy future, especially as we face the urgent need to reduce greenhouse gas emissions. It is a scalable low-carbon energy source and, with appropriate advancements in safety and waste management, can contribute significantly to our energy mix.
