I believe that a UN-led body should oversee compute-intensive AI development, much like the IAEA does for nuclear technology. AI has the potential to reshape our societies dramatically, and without careful oversight, it could lead to unintended consequences. Just as with nuclear energy, the risks and benefits of AI are global in nature, and thus require coordinated international regulation to ensure the technology is developed and used responsibly.
