As an economist focused on sustainable development, I believe high-income countries should lead the way in tackling climate change. They have historically contributed the most to greenhouse gas emissions and possess the resources and technology to drive significant progress. By taking the lead, they can also support and empower low- and middle-income nations to follow suit, ensuring a fair and just transition for all.

While entrepreneurship is important, the EU should focus more on sustainable and equitable business practices than merely celebrating entrepreneurship. Celebrating it often overlooks the systemic issues that need addressing, such as inequality, environmental degradation, and social well-being. We must ensure that entrepreneurial activities contribute positively to society and the planet, aligning with a regenerative and distributive economic model.
