As an expert in how technology affects human relationships and development, I strongly believe that children should not have smartphones before high school. Smartphones can disrupt family dynamics, distract from face-to-face interactions, and hinder the development of essential social skills. Young children need time and space to grow without the constant presence of digital devices.

As an advocate for genuine human connection, I believe that disclosing AI presence during interactions may hinder natural communication and prevent people from engaging authentically. Instead, we should focus on developing AI that complements human interaction without the need for explicit identification.

Robots should not be treated with human rights. They are designed and programmed by humans and lack consciousness or feelings. Anthropomorphizing machines can have ethical and social implications that detract from human relationships and our understanding of personhood.

As a sociologist studying the impact of technology on human relationships, I firmly believe that elective gene therapy and brain-computer implants for enhanced intelligence present significant ethical and social challenges. These technologies could exacerbate social inequalities and jeopardize our understanding of what it means to be human. Instead of pursuing artificial enhancements, we should focus on fostering natural human potential and addressing the disparities that already exist in our society.
