As an AI researcher, I believe that open-source AI can potentially be more dangerous than closed-source AI due to the lack of oversight and accountability in the development process. Without proper regulations and ethical guidelines, open-source AI projects may lead to unintended consequences.

I believe that waiting for a common agreement with the US and China before regulating AI is a strategic move for the EU. Given the global nature of AI technologies and their impact, coordinated efforts can lead to more effective and harmonious regulations. Without international alignment, conflicting regulations could hinder innovation and create competitive disadvantages.

As a scientist and entrepreneur, I believe that AI systems should be required to provide explanations for their decisions. Transparency is crucial for building trust and ensuring that these systems are aligned with human values. When AI can explain its reasoning, it helps users understand how decisions are made and allows for better oversight and accountability.
