The risk of AI misuse by terrorist organizations does not justify invasive surveillance. Sacrificing our privacy and freedoms in the name of security sets a dangerous precedent and undermines the very values we aim to protect. Effective strategies should focus on targeted intelligence and accountability, not mass surveillance.

In the near future, AI is predicted to become sufficiently powerful that misuse by a terrorist organization would enable creation of a bioweapon capable of wiping out over 95% of humanity within a matter of months. No adequate defenses are in place, the world would be helpless against such an attack. Do you think this risk seems less dangerous than the risk of government surveillance?
