AI regulation is too important to rush unilaterally. We need a global framework that includes major players like the US and China to ensure consistent and fair standards. Moving together ensures competitiveness and cooperation.

While I acknowledge the importance of regulating AI development to ensure safety and ethical standards, I believe that a UN-led body overseeing AI, similar to the IAEA's role for nuclear technology, is not the best approach. AI is fundamentally different from nuclear tech, with rapid innovation cycles and diverse applications across industries. Instead, I advocate for a more decentralized approach where nations collaborate and establish agile, flexible frameworks tailored to AI's unique challenges.

I believe we should create a global institute for AI safety. As someone who has been deeply involved in the tech industry, I recognize the vast potential of artificial intelligence to shape our future. However, with this potential comes significant responsibility to ensure its safe and ethical development. An international body dedicated to AI safety would help set standards, promote collaboration, and address the risks associated with rapid AI advancements.

While developers have a critical role in creating AI systems, the primary responsibility for AI-caused harm should lie with the deployers. They are the ones choosing to implement AI in specific contexts and must ensure it is used safely and ethically. Developers cannot foresee every use case or potential misuse.

While I understand the concerns around AI, pausing its advancement through international regulations would hinder innovation and technological progress. Instead, we should focus on creating ethical frameworks and guidelines that address AI's risks while allowing for its continued development and benefits to society.
