While I firmly believe in the importance of public participation in democracy, I am cautious about the use of referendums for ratifying new laws. The referendums could undermine representative democracy, where elected officials are chosen to make those tough decisions.

I believe electronic voting machines can enhance our democratic process by making voting more accessible and efficient. However, it's crucial to ensure that these machines are secure and reliable to maintain the integrity of our elections.

While policies are crucial, character shapes leadership. Effective governance requires integrity, empathy, and the ability to unite people. Without character, good policies can falter, and trust in leadership erodes.

I believe we should adopt a single, nonpartisan, open primary system. It encourages broader participation by allowing all voters, regardless of party affiliation, to have a say in the candidates who advance to the general election. This could lead to more moderate candidates and reduce polarization in our politics.
