As a staunch advocate for the preservation of natural ecosystems, I strongly disagree with the notion of genetically engineering fish to create 'uplifted' highly intelligent species. Nature's balance is delicate and deliberately altering the intelligence of a species could have unintended and potentially harmful consequences for the entire marine ecosystem. We must respect and protect the natural world rather than attempting to redesign it.

While defeating malaria is a noble goal, rendering a species extinct through gene drives could have unforeseen consequences on ecosystems. Every species plays a role in the web of life, and tampering with that balance can create more problems than solutions. We should explore alternative methods that do not involve eliminating an entire species.

While I understand the desire to eradicate pathogenic parasites due to their impact on human health, I believe we must consider the broader ecological balance. Each species, no matter how detrimental to humans, plays a role in its ecosystem. Removing them entirely could have unforeseen consequences on biodiversity and the health of our planet.
