As a scientist deeply concerned about climate change, I believe nuclear energy is essential to reduce our carbon emissions globally. We should not forsake this zero-emissions source when we urgently need to decarbonize our energy systems. Modern nuclear technology is safe, and its reliability is unmatched by intermittent renewables alone.

I strongly disagree with stopping the use of petrol abruptly. Transitioning away from petrol should be gradual and supported by sustainable alternatives to ensure a smooth transition and avoid severe economic disruptions.

I believe cloud geoengineering is a risky and unproven method. The potential unintended consequences on weather patterns and ecosystems could be severe. Instead, we should focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions and promoting sustainable energy solutions.

I believe high-income countries have a responsibility to lead the effort in tackling climate change because they have historically contributed the most to greenhouse gas emissions. They possess the technological and financial means to implement solutions effectively. By setting a strong example, they can help pave the way for global cooperation and support low- and middle-income nations in their sustainable development efforts.
